As the year comes to a close and Kenley’s second birthday speeds toward me like a fucking bullet train, I am so thankful for the donations we will be making to the hospital in her memory.
In total we are going to be donating (all things will be used for other stillborn babies):
44 girls pajamas
43 boys pajamas
68 crocheted hats in different sizes
Five totes of baby blankets (totaling about 60) including 7 crocheted ones from my amazing friend Terri’s mom, and 9 from a wonderful mother (her daughter died of SIDS @ 4 months old) who chose to donate her daughter’s unused blankets to our project. After I took this picture about 20 more blankets arrived in the following days.
In addition to all of those things, we are putting together 40 care packages for parents who lose their children. Shane and I packed half of them the other night. Each box will include the books: you are the mother of all mothers, memories too few, unveiled love, and wherever you are. Also included will be a small journal and pen, a candle, lotion, chapstick, forget me not seeds, good tissues, the angels embrace willow tree figurine and a note from myself.
We are also including 40 hand/foot print clay mold kits to allow parents to have a “piece” of their children to take home with them. I wish so badly I had a hand print mold of Kenley’s little hands. And, finally we are donating 40 “invisible string” books to be given to family’s with older siblings. It is my hope that the book will bring some sort of comfort to them as it brought to Landon after his first sister died.
I could have NEVER dreamed of making this a possibility without the love and support of so many people. I saved each and every gift message that came with each thing donated and I can’t wait to go back and re-read them after we make the donation. The love that my family and friends have for Kenley blows me away. She is a very loved, very missed little girl.
This is all for you, my sweet girl. Mommy loves you and misses you every second of my life. I hope you know that.
You and Kenley and your entire family are truly amazing. Love you, friend.
